Creating an awesome contact form for your customers to reach out

Having a contact form on your website is a great way for customers to make enquiries about your products or service. Unfortunately, it seems too complex for many business owners to worry about including. As a result, they have to make do with just including an email address and social media information on their contact page. Sure, some people prefer those channels, but for many, using the ‘official’ contact form is just more convenient, and reassuring.

So today, we are going to talk about just 3 important things to keep in mind when creating a contact form, and show you just how easy it is to create one that works for your website.

Keep it simple!

Most of the time customers using your contact form are actively reaching out to give you a valuable insight into what is important to them. So instead of making them jump through loops, it would be best to lose the extraneous form fields such as ‘How did you hear about us?’ or even the CAPTCHA (unless you receive a lot of spam).

Make sure it is responsive

These days, a large portion of all site traffic comes from mobile. As compared to desktop users, mobile users are less likely to want to switch out to another app like their email client to ask you something. Thus it is critical that your form looks great on mobile. Even more so than the rest of your site.

This means a couple of things. First, it is making sure the user doesn’t have to scroll horizontally just to get to different parts of the form field. Also, you need to have fields and buttons that are large enough to easily push with a thumb without too much aiming.

Test, test, test

When your form is set up, make sure you use it to send yourself a message. It is scary how sometimes when I want to reach out to someone via their form, I get an email that says my message was bounced. This is often due to a typo or setup error, so in order to avoid embarrassment, do check it when it goes live. Otherwise, people may be asking questions but not hearing back!

  1. On the page, you want the form, all you have to do is go into components and drag or double click the ‘Contact Form’ component and voila, that’s where it’ll be on the page.
  2. All that’s left to do is to go into properties and input the email you want to receive messages from the contact form to go to and you’re good to go.
  3. Bonus: the properties settings also allows you to customize your form so that it fits perfectly on your site!
